A former McDonald’s employee has revealed the top secrets he learned while working at the fast-food chain.
Michael Ryan has dished the dirt on everything from the truth behind its chicken salads and why its Coca Cola taste nicer.
Michael from the US, who is known as @evilglitterqueen on TikTok, replied to a fellow user’s request for employees of larger companies to share insider information from their jobs.
In a video that has been viewed more than 11,000 times on the platform, Michael explained the “real reason” McDonald’s straws are so long.
Michael said: “I worked at McDonald’s and I learned so much s***.
“You think that they’re just fast food and s*** but there’s so much science behind it.
“For example, your straw at McDonald’s is larger – do you know why it’s larger? Because it lets more carbonation hit your tongue and makes the soda taste better.
“That’s why it’s better at McDonald’s.”
He also claimed that the fast-food chain commissions Coca-Cola to make a special syrup with more sugar and flavor.
McDonald’s has confirmed the reasoning behind its wider straws on its website, and also explained that the reason it tastes so good, is because the Coca-Cola syrup is pre-chilled before it enters the fountain dispensers and the ratio of syrup is strategically set to allow for ice to melt.
But that’s not his only claim about the chain as he also alleged: “Their grilled chicken is injected with a salt water mixture to keep it moist but also flavourful.”
Before he went on to say: “Their ice cream machine is made from whole whipping cream and it’s cleaned once a week.”
This comes as fans discovered that they’d been eating their fries and ketchup wrong.
Apparently, according to the “Today Years old” account on Twitter, a page that regularly reveals the most commonly unknown public discoveries, the fry vox has an in-built dip holder.
On the back of the fry container, there’s a designated flap where you can put your dip of choice.
